This famous 14th Century inn was once a renowned meeting place for smugglers in times gone by. Oak beams and open fires offer mellow reminders of the past and create an intimate atmosphere in the bar. The Star at Alfriston has 37 bedrooms, 3 feature rooms all with private facilities including room service, hairdryer and trouser press. Families can be catered for with extra beds in some rooms. (There is a charge for this facility).The Capella restaurant serves modern cuisine using local produce, whilst the lounge bar offers an exciting selection of hot and cold meals. Set in the heart of the South Downs, there are many fine walks, with the South Downs Way passing right by the door of the hotel. There is also easy access to both Eastbourne and Brighton.**Please note that from the 1st April 2006 all of our guest bedrooms are non-smoking.**
